1. How do I obtain a copy of an Accident Report?

All accident reports may be purchased on the Buy Crash website below or you can obtain one through the Admin Office.

2. Concealed Weapons Permit

If you are a legal resident of the Town of York and would like to apply or renew your concealed weapons permit, you may do so in person at the Administration office at the Police Department.
The Administration office is open Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and you may contact them at 207-363-1031.

If you are a non-resident, please refer to the Maine State Police Department website.

3. What is the cost to request an Incident Report?

All report requests are done in writing and should include the following information:

Report/case number,  when the incident happened, where it happened, what happened and who was involved.  Please also include your contact information, should we need to reach you regarding your request.  

The reports are usually available 5 to 7 days after the incident. Not all reports are releasable.

Fee Schedule

Copies of police reports can be picked up in person with proper identification at no charge.

Copies of police reports being returned by mail incur a fee of $10 for the first three pages.  Additional cost per page may apply to reports over three (3) pages in length.  

4. How can I get a Background Check?

A local background check can be done through the York Police Department in person with proper ID or signed release documents. This report only encompasses activity within the Town of York.

If you require a criminal history check, please contact the Maine State Police Department.

5. Beach Parking Permit Stickers

BEACH PARKING STICKERS are required from May 15th until October 15th - These are available to year round residents and property owners.

There are three options to obtain a Beach Parking Permit Sticker

1 - You may send a copy of the vehicle registration and a check for $40.00 (or $20.00 if you are 65 years or older) to the Town Clerk and Tax Collector’s Office (186 York Street, York, Maine 03909)

2 - Visit the Town Clerk and Tax Collector’s Office in person (186 York Street, York, Maine 03909)

3 - Click the blue Permit Parking icon below to apply for a Permit Parking Sticker online:

*There is a $3.00 Service Charge associated with online payments – The Service Charge is not a Town of York fee; it is a fee imposed by the payment processing company*

Once your online permit application has been reviewed and approved by The Town Clerk's, and will mail you your Permit Parking Sticker to the mailing address entered in your application.

Your information is secure. All payment transactions are processed "encrypted" ensuring the security of your credit card or bank account information. The Town of York does not retain or store any credit card or bank information.  

PERMIT PARKING PROGRAM ORDINANCE (pdf)

If you are a York resident or a property owner, you are entitled to purchase a Permit Parking Sticker for a fee of $40, or $20 if you are 65 or older. The Parking Permit program shall be in effect each year beginning May 15th through October 15th, and the sticker is exclusive to the vehicle it is issued to. 

Residency is established by your Maine vehicle registration with your York street address on it. If you own property in the Town of York but your legal residence is another state or Maine city or town, you can obtain a beach sticker only if the name on the vehicle registration matches the name on the property tax account. Upon receipt of the legitimate registration and payment, we will mail the Permit Parking sticker to the mailing address that you provided.

A motor vehicle bearing a valid parking permit shall be exempt from meter and timed parking regulations when parked in the following designated zones:

1. LONG BEACH AVENUE Permit Parking on Long Beach Ave. from Libby’s Campground, York Street to Nubble Road in metered spaces.

2. HARBOR BEACH ROAD Permit Parking only, excluding those spaces designated for disability.

3. YORK BEACH BALL FIELD Permit Parking in designated zone, except Sunday mornings until noon.

4. RIVER ROAD Permit Parking only (from the intersection of River Road and Shore Road, 700 feet in a westerly direction, southerly side).

5. SHORE ROAD Permit Parking only (Beginning at CMP Pole #212 extending to CMP Pole #210, westerly side).

6. US ROUTE 103/WIGGLEY BRIDGE/STEEDMAN WOODS Permit Parking in the fourteen designated parking spaces at the Route 103 Parking Lot.

Permits are NOT valid in the following zones:

1. Ellis Park/Short Sands parking lot.

2. On Railroad Avenue, Ocean Avenue, and Beach Street.

3. On Harris Island Road

6. Parking Ticket Appeal

PARKING APPEAL FORM

You must submit your appeal within 24 hours of the ticket date/time.  
Your appeal will be reviewed within 10 days.

It is your responsibility to call the York Police Department’s Admin Office, within 10 days of filing your appeal, at (207) 363-1031 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM for the appeal decision.  

Your penalty will not increase during the appeal process.  You may only appeal a ticket once.  Tickets which have previously been denied will not be reviewed again.

Do not send cash in the mail.

There is a $2.50 convenience fee associated with online bill payments.

9. Yard Sale Permit information

Frequency & Duration for Sales

• Before you have a yard sale, you need to register for your permit at the Police Station located at 9 Hannaford Drive.
• You can register at any time of day, any day of the year. Best of all, there’s no fee.
• Each residence is permitted to have up to 2-yard sales each calendar year. Each yard sale can last up to 3 consecutive days.
