Here's a selfie I took with Jon Gay of the York Village Fire Department. That's right, 75 feet up in the air at the top of the ladder truck. It's a great view from up there, but I can't imagine working in that spot. A practice climb on a calm, sunny day is one thing. I'm not sure I'd want to do this at night, in smoke, with the safety of others at stake. Nope, I'll leave that to our firefighters.
All in all, this was a pretty cool experience and it reminds me of the importance of providing good vehicles, good equipment and good training to our first responders.
Thanks for setting this up Jon! And thank you to all the people who serve our community in dispatch, fire, police and medical services!
