[ARCHIVED] Selfies with Steve
Hartley Mason Reservation

011 With Jeff McConnell on 2018-04-03

Here I am with Jeff McConnell, Chair of the Trustees of the Hartley Mason Reservation. The Hartley Mason Reservation Park is the beautiful open space on York Street, across the street from York Harbor Inn. It also constitutes a large portion of Harbor Beach. It’s also the southerly end of the Cliff Walk. In this photo we’re standing in the Park, just in front of the wonderful sculpture created by Sumner Winebaum – York resident and sculptor extraordinaire.

This Park is one of the great public spaces in our community. It is here for us to enjoy today because of the vision and generosity of a man named Hartley Mason, who had this vision back in 1921. It took a while to get to this point, but here we are. Residents and visitors alike, today and for generations to come, are the beneficiaries of this generous man’s gift. And we also benefit from the leadership of the Trustees, who have done an exceptional job looking out for the public interest here. The Town of York is proud to partner with the Trustees in service to the public.

The Trustees are holding an OPEN HOUSE at the Park at noon this coming Saturday (May 5, 2018). That’s right, Cinco de Mayo. Start your festivities early by visiting the Park and learning more about it. Speak with the Trustees, ask questions, find out what’s happening, and share with them any ideas you may have. And please join me in thanking them for their wonderful contribution to our community!
