Soldiers Memorial

Here I am, face to face, with one of York’s best known, but least understood figures, the soldier atop the Soldiers’ Memorial in York Village. Please be assured, this is not a Confederate – this is a solider of the United States Army in the uniform of the Spanish American War.

Cleaning the monument was a blast! York resident Mike Dow came up with the idea, and we brought together people of First Parish Cemetery, York Parks and Recreation, and York Village Fire Department to make this happen. Here are a couple more photos from today!
