The Code Enforcement Officers administer the Zoning Ordinance, Building Codes, Wireless Communications Facilities Ordinance, Well Ordinance, Plumbing Codes, Floodplain Management Ordinance, Accessory Dwelling Unit Ordinance,  Impact Fee Regulations, and a few other less-used codes. Our Department is also charged with the enforcement  of the State of Maine Internal Plumbing Rules and the State of Maine Subsurface Wastewater Disposal Rules. Each ordinance has specific administrative procedures for the review of applications, inspections and enforcement.

The Community Development Department is short-staffed.  One of our 3 fully-certified Code Enforcement Officers is out on medical leave.  My staff and I are doing our best to keep up with the workload even though it's our busy season.  We're maintaining our public counter hours, issuing permits, inspecting, and enforceing.  We're committed to keeping up with the workload, but our response times will be slow, particularly for inspections, because of the temporary loss of staff.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Steve Burns at 363-1007.
