Notice Before Using the Composite Map

This composite map is designed to work like the other Interactive Web Maps. The user can search by Owner Name, Address, Map & Lot numbers, and the like. However, the only data available for viewing is the Current Flood Zones, the Preliminary Flood Zones, and Aerial Photography. The Quick Maps menu in the upper portion of the webpage can be used to toggle through the Current Flood Zones, the Preliminary Flood Zones, and a combination of the 2 zones. One can toggle Aerial Photography on and off, while the Flood Zones are on, using the Layers Menu on the left of the screen.

Please refer to the other Web Maps for all other mapping needs.

Preliminary FEMA Flood Map Composite
Preliminary FEMA Flood Maps
On June 9, 2009 the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provided the Town of York Preliminary copies (paper) of a Flood Insurance Study (FIS) report and proposed Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM). There are copies of this report and proposed FIRM available for inspection at the Community Development Office in the Town Hall. Also available is a composite map produced by Brett Horr, GIS Manager, which includes the existing flood maps and the proposed flood maps. This composite map is extremely useful in comparing how the proposed flood changes might affect you. The Town produced composite map can be found by following the link to the left of this announcement.  In addition, the official Preliminary FEMA flood maps are available to the right. These files are listed by the Flood Plain Panel Numbers. Caution needs to be used in downloading this file as it is very large. Tim DeCoteau, the Town’s Floodplain Manager is available to answer questions about any flood topic during normally scheduled walk-in hours or by appointment. Anyone adversely affected by changes or failure to change the FIRM maps can appeal FEMA’s determinations. All appeals must be in writing, supported by technical data, and be filed with the Town of York Community Development Department prior to the expiration of the appeal period. Currently the final date for appeal is open, FEMA has told the Town that a new date to end the appeal period will be announced early November. This will extend the appeal period to approximately the end of January 2010
